Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
A
ValueB+
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Titans let Mukuba fall and pounced. Final grade: A. You could see the war room lean forward. Andrew Mukuba at pick 102 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The veteran additions, Trevor Lawrence chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the 35th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick36
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They did well to land Omarion Hampton in Round 2, Pick 4, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Mykel Williams
Somehow Mykel Williams was still sitting there in the 44th overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Jack Bech in pick 76 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick102
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Taking Andrew Mukuba in No. 102 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick119
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
No edge and no loss on Hollin Pierce in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in slot 142 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick168
Rnd5
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans in pick No. 168 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick180
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
A reasonable price with a little left over, Quincy Riley in pick 180. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick241
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
Nice patience on Kitan Crawford, who had no business lasting to the 241st overall pick. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
