Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals let Benson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Trey Benson, the No. 68 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 105th overall pick.

The Sainristil pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 27 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
They paid sticker price for Bralen Trice in the 35th pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in the 66th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick71 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
They liked Mike Sainristil enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 7. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick90 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in No. 90 with a little surplus value in McKinnley Jackson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Trey Benson
Trey Benson in pick 105 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
No edge and no loss on Jordan Travis in slot 137; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick188 Rnd6 Trey Knox
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Knox. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jalen Green
Jalen Green at pick 222 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jha'Quan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at Round 7, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
