The board owed the Chargers one, and it paid up: Jeffrey Bassa, the No. 131 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 2 like a gift left on the doorstep.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Reaching for Alexander left real value on the table behind him.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
