Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals won the night they stopped Thieneman from sliding. Grade: B.

Call it larceny. Dillon Thieneman sat on the board until the Round 2 slot, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice.

The Clark pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Anthony Hill Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick57 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Circle this one: Dillon Thieneman at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick89 Rnd3 Bud Clark
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Bud Clark in the 89th pick leaves cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick125 Rnd4 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp slipping to pick 125 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick164 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at slot 164 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick203 Rnd6 Hykeem Williams
A tidy little value on Hykeem Williams in No. 203, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238 Rnd7 Semaj Morgan
Semaj Morgan at pick No. 238 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick252 Rnd7 Ty Simpson
A quarterback of that caliber at the 252nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
