Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The 49ers took Andrew Raym at No. 176, roughly 63 spots before his name belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They banked enough surplus on Mims to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Sainristil pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still on the board.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the 31st pick they get a potential shutdown corner, outstanding value to boot.
Pick63 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
They robbed the room for Amarius Mims here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 31: Mike Sainristil adds a cornerback while interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
The board fumbled Jalen McMillan all the way to slot 124, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick131 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Elijah Jones while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots sat open.
Pick133 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in pick No. 133 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd6 Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym at slot 176 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
A tidy bit of business in No. 211, where Jase McClellan graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick215 Rnd6 Evan Williams
A straight-up fair deal on Evan Williams at the 215th pick, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick251 Rnd7 Carter Bradley
They talked themselves into Carter Bradley at pick 251, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
