Jayarea24 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers

The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Sanders: B-. When a board-topper like Ja'Tavion Sanders slides to pick 63, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Zinter to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Somehow Ja'Tavion Sanders was still sitting there in slot 63, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
The board had cheaper options than Zak Zinter at pick No. 94, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick124
Rnd4
Josh Newton
No edge and no loss on Josh Newton in pick 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick131
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick133
Rnd4
Christian Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick176
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in the 176th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in No. 211 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick215
Rnd6
Myles Murphy
Myles Murphy at slot 215 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick251
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
Nice patience on Josh Proctor, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 31. It adds depth where they could use a little.
