The 49ers let Robinson fall and pounced. Final grade: D-.

The phones were a trap the 49ers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

The 49ers indulged a want in Newton while a need in quarterback stayed open. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Every board in the league had Washington lower, and that gap is the story. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

However the rest shakes out, Robinson at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

In pick No. 8 they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick31 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In slot 31 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.

No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Jaylen Wright at No. 63 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
