A costly weekend of dealing drags the 49ers to a D-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Brandon Coleman in the 145th pick. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Colson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
