gsukjdakid DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B-
ValueC+

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Pearce Jr.: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. James Pearce Jr. had no business being available in pick 41, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Hampton reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Omarion Hampton
Value said wait; Omarion Hampton in the 10th overall pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
A straight-up fair deal on Aireontae Ersery at No. 39, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
James Pearce Jr.
The board fumbled James Pearce Jr. all the way to Round 2, Pick 9, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick No. 72 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
