Lmondloch DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Vikings. The Vikings clearly saw something nobody else did in Donovan Edwards, taking him 49 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
James at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Hit on Benjamin Morrison and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Benjamin Morrison
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get an island corner, a steep price for the projection. Need was not the driver here.
Pick97
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick140
Rnd5
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at pick No. 140 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jordan James
You do not let a running back like Jordan James reach pick 161 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
