Iansmith47 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for Gabriel. Final grade: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Dillon Gabriel slide, and the Seahawks were the ones holding the card at the 175th overall pick. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Burch reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 18 they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at the 50th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick52
Rnd2
Trey Amos
They took Trey Amos at par in Round 2, Pick 20, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick82
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
They paid up for Jordan Burch at pick No. 82 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 92 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in No. 137 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick172
Rnd5
Connor Colby
No edge and no loss on Connor Colby in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in the 175th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 223 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jabbar Muhammad. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
