FutureA
The Seahawks turned the phones into found money: A-. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jackson Slater at the Round 4 slot regardless, 34 picks early.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Etienne falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Seahawks clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
No drama and no debate, Jayden Higgins went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the 66th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92
Rnd3
Will Howard
Will Howard at pick 92 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Slater. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133
Rnd4
Kobe King
Kobe King at slot 133 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172
Rnd5
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. is a better player than the 223rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick226
Rnd7
Maxen Hook
They read the board right and Maxen Hook was the payoff at pick 226. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick256
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. in Round 7, Pick 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
A cornerback of that caliber at pick No. 257 is the definition of value, full stop. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
