Dylangeller DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Cardinals. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Graham Barton at the 70th pick is 33 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Benson to cover a lot of smaller sins. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick21
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 21st overall pick they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau in pick No. 34 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Trey Benson
A slide stopped in pick 66, with Trey Benson worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70
Rnd3
Graham Barton
Value said wait; Graham Barton in slot 70 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at No. 85 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
