A solid, sensible weekend for the Colts: B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Colts did exactly that with Hayden Conner in the 232nd overall pick.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Judkins steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Value with a capital V on Will Johnson in the Round 1 slot, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick45
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at pick 45 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick80
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
A slide stopped in the 80th overall pick, with Quinshon Judkins worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
No drama and no debate, Jeffrey Bassa went about where he belonged in No. 117. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick151
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at the 151st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick189
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ajani Cornelius at slot 189 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
