Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureC
The Bills robbed the room for Starks. Final grade: B-.

Somebody in the 56th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Malaki Starks, the No. 27 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

If Ingram-Dawkins pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while linebacker, quarterback and other spots went begging. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In the 22nd pick they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Steal is underselling it; Malaki Starks at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick62 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in slot 62 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 109 on Cobee Bryant with linebacker, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick169 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
A conviction pick on Vernon Broughton at No. 169 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
By-the-book stuff, Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 170 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins in Round 5, Pick 35 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
They went early on JJ Pegues in the 177th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in the 206th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
