Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB
The jury is out on the Bengals. For now, C+. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent pick 119 on Tyler Baron, a name the board had a full 38 spots lower.
Spending an early pick on edge rusher with cornerback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
If Mykel Williams and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a premier pass rusher. More want than need.
Pick49
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Josaiah Stewart while clear needs at cornerback, tight end and other spots sat open.
Pick102
Rnd3
Joshua Farmer
They went early on Joshua Farmer in pick 102, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
A surprising call. With cornerback, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent the 119th overall pick on Tyler Baron, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick153
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
No edge and no loss on Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick No. 153; it is a wash and a sensible one. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick193
Rnd6
Howard Cross III
Howard Cross III in No. 193 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
