The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Omarion Hampton, the No. 32 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 61 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Vinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
