Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
Gordon II should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B+.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Ollie Gordon II slide 44 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 12th overall pick they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tetairoa McMillan
They will replay Tetairoa McMillan at the 38th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams at pick 69 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at pick No. 77 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
No drama and no debate, Joshua Farmer went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 4. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
A straight-up fair deal on Mitchell Evans at No. 144, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick217 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in slot 217 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick220 Rnd7 Ricky White III
A tidy little value on Ricky White III in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
A quiet steal in the Round 7 slot: Jermari Harris for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
