The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Simon: B.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Cody Simon, the No. 136 name on the board, sitting there at the 230th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Reaching for Griffith left real value on the table behind him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
