J.J. McCarthy gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Ford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
