Jnichols DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureA+
The Patriots robbed the room for Marks. Final grade: C+. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Patriots, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
Marks at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Skattebo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Hit on Tyler Warren and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In No. 26 they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
The board had Jayden Higgins higher than Round 3, Pick 5, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick77
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
They took Ozzy Trapilo at par in pick 77, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick90
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
They reached into another round for Cam Skattebo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick108
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 108th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick130
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
The board had cheaper options than Hollin Pierce at Round 4, Pick 28, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at slot 144 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217
Rnd7
Woody Marks
Taking Woody Marks in the 217th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick238
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in the 238th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
