Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Chiefs.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Chiefs spent slot 139 on Marist Liufau, a name most had 27 spots down the list.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bullock.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick41 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
No edge and no loss on Caelen Carson in the 95th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
A slide stopped in pick 100, with Calen Bullock worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick101 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went OLB-EDGE with Javon Solomon while clear needs at tight end, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick132 Rnd4 Trevor Keegan
They went early on Trevor Keegan in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139 Rnd5 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at pick 139 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick152 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nehemiah Pritchett at pick No. 152. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick173 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
They paid sticker price for Khristian Boyd in Round 5, Pick 37, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick252 Rnd7 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 252nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
