Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Logan Fano pick is the one that will follow the Ravens into the fall. They took him 82 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
That Caldwell pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Cashius Howell
A reach on Cashius Howell in pick 14; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick45
Rnd2
LT Overton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, LT Overton well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80
Rnd3
Brenen Thompson
They paid sticker price for Brenen Thompson in the 80th pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick115
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
They went early on J.C. Davis in pick No. 115, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer at No. 152 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick160
Rnd5
Logan Fano
Logan Fano at slot 160 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick172
Rnd5
Zane Durant
Zane Durant in the 172nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick173
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Kage Casey at the 173rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249
Rnd7
DJ Harvey
Somehow DJ Harvey was still sitting there in No. 249, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick252
Rnd7
Jeff Caldwell
Taking Jeff Caldwell in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
