Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Browns get a C+.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Caleb Lomu in No. 6, a good 25 spots before the room expected him. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

If Caleb Lomu and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Max Klare
Max Klare in pick 39 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane at slot 70 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Lance at the 107th pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
No drama and no debate, Tanner Koziol went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 1. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick144 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
By-the-book stuff, Connor Tollison at slot 144 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
They paid up for Aamil Wagner at the 147th pick when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Brett Norfleet
They went early on Brett Norfleet in the Round 6 slot, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248 Rnd7 Duce Chestnut
A conviction pick on Duce Chestnut at Round 7, Pick 32 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
