Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Caleb Lomu in No. 6, a good 26 spots before the room expected him.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Hallman at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Hit on Caleb Lomu and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the 6th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olaivavega Ioane. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 39 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Fields at No. 70, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
They reached a country mile for CJ Daniels at pick 107, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at the 139th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Drew Allar at pick 144. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
They paid a round early for Aamil Wagner in the 147th pick, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Peyton Bowen
They paid sticker price for Peyton Bowen in the 204th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Ricardo Hallman
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 32, with Ricardo Hallman worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
