Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent pick No. 103 on Drake Nugent, a name most had 41 spots down the list. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots.
