Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in Maye: D-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bears spent the Round 4 slot on Joe Milton III, a name most had 46 spots down the list.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick21
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In slot 21 they get a disruptor off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick No. 26 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at pick 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick66
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 66th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick71
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
A conviction pick on Malachi Corley at pick No. 71 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Audric Estime
Audric Estime at the 75th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
A straight-up fair deal on Leonard Taylor III at slot 114, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick116
Rnd4
Joe Milton III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
