Draft Grade — Saints

FutureD-
The Saints turned the phones into found money: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Saints should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Hartman proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In pick No. 17 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick29
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick 29 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
They liked Kingsley Suamataia enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 45. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Sainristil. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick96
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
A premium they did not need to pay, Mekhi Wingo a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 34 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau in the 175th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick199
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Cornelius Johnson worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick239
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman in pick 239 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
