Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Trente Jones, the No. 195 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 251. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They will need Bortolini to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a potential shutdown corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick63 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at slot 63 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Isaiah Adams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaiah Adams in the 94th overall pick, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at slot 124 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131 Rnd4 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at Round 4, Pick 31 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jared Wiley
They reached a country mile for Jared Wiley at No. 133, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick176 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
A real head-scratcher, Caedan Wallace in pick No. 176 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick211 Rnd6 Evan Williams
Evan Williams at pick 211 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick215 Rnd6 Darius Muasau
A wild overpay on Darius Muasau in the 215th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick251 Rnd7 Trente Jones
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
