Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent pick No. 31 on Kingsley Suamataia, a name most had 26 spots down the list.

Landing Bullock that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The dealing was even money, start to finish.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
