Larceny in No. 216 lands the Colts a B-, Hurst and all.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Colts were there to profit. Ted Hurst, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 216. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. With quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Chris Johnson
They let Chris Johnson come to them and pounced at the 47th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
No drama and no debate, Jacob Rodriguez went about where he belonged in slot 78. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113 Rnd4 Will Lee III
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Will Lee III adds a cornerback while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick154 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Nice patience on Beau Stephens, who had no business lasting to No. 154. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216 Rnd6 Ted Hurst
The board fumbled Ted Hurst all the way to the 216th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jalen Huskey
They did well to land Jalen Huskey in pick 230, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick253 Rnd7 Josh Cuevas
The board had Josh Cuevas higher than pick No. 253, and the tight end fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
