Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chiefs did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The McDonald steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Bailey pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
David Bailey
In No. 9 they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at slot 40 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
