Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bengals for Muhammad: B-.

Somebody in No. 110 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Malik Muhammad, the No. 91 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Tollison reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In pick 10 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in the 41st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at pick No. 72 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick110 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
Steal is underselling it; Malik Muhammad at the 110th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187 Rnd6 VJ Payne
VJ Payne in slot 187 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick197 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
They did well to land Oscar Delp in No. 197, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226 Rnd7 Connor Tollison
A reach for Connor Tollison in the Round 7 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
