Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Starks: B+.

Thirty-one other rooms let Malaki Starks slide, and the Bears were the ones holding the card at the 56th pick. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Johnson
Value with a capital V on Will Johnson in the 14th overall pick, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the running back. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Kenneth Grant reach slot 41 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
The board fumbled Malaki Starks all the way to pick No. 56, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick72 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Bond. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 86th pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in Round 4, Pick 7 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jonas Sanker
Nice patience on Jonas Sanker, who had no business lasting to No. 148. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick158 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough slipping to the 158th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
