Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

The Bengals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent the 149th overall pick on Jared Wiley, a name the board had a full 57 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In slot 18 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A reach on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 49; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at pick No. 80 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
No drama and no debate, Jalen McMillan went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 34. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick115
Rnd4
Maason Smith
Maason Smith in the 115th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at No. 149 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
