Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall C-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Nash from sliding. Grade: C-.

Somebody in Round 5, Pick 34 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Seahawks sat still while Nick Nash, the No. 140 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A mixed bag that lands at C-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Ratledge proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

The Seahawks paired the rookies with proven help, Dontayvion Wicks leading the way.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick54 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Watts at pick 54 is the proof. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A reach for Tate Ratledge in No. 56; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick82 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
The board had Omarr Norman-Lott higher than the 82nd pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the 137th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at slot 173 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick187 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick No. 187 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick212 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Antwane Wells Jr. reach No. 212 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236 Rnd7 CJ West
They robbed the room for CJ West here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
