Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B+ for the Vikings.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Vikings never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The cost of the Bowen reach is exactly the players who went right after him. On value alone, Downs makes the weekend a net positive. The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 12 they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 11, where Jake Slaughter graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick80 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
No edge and no loss on Eli Stowers in the 80th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick97 Rnd3 Julian Neal
They did well to land Julian Neal in slot 97, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Good price on Jacob Rodriguez in the 169th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick206 Rnd6 Drayk Bowen
Drayk Bowen at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick227 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
DeAndre Moore Jr. at pick No. 227 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at No. 237 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
