Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Vikings: B.

The Vikings torched the value chart for Boubacar Traore, taking him 32 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Downs at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In the 14th overall pick they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
No edge and no loss on Sonny Styles in slot 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Keith Abney II
They did well to land Keith Abney II in Round 3, Pick 28, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick97 Rnd3 Boubacar Traore
They talked themselves into Boubacar Traore at No. 97, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard at pick 123 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
Pick210 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A real head-scratcher, Trey Zuhn III in slot 210 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick228 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
A tidy little value on DeAndre Moore Jr. in No. 228, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
