Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureB+
The Vikings robbed the room for McCoy. Final grade: A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Vikings should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
McCoy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Hill pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman still on the board.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Siereveld proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In No. 32 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jeremiyah Love
The board fumbled Jeremiyah Love all the way to pick 33, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick35
Rnd2
Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate at the 35th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy at the 41st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Taking Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 14 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick54
Rnd2
Max Klare
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Max Klare at slot 54. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick58
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Michael Taaffe in pick No. 58. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick61
Rnd2
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No edge and no loss on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 61; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A slide stopped in slot 66, with Eli Stowers worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jyaire Hill
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jyaire Hill adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher and interior defensive lineman untouched.
Pick172
Rnd5
Miller Moss
They read the board right and Miller Moss was the payoff at pick 172. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Trey Zuhn III
No drama and no debate, Trey Zuhn III went about where he belonged in the 175th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181
Rnd6
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling at Round 6, Pick 5 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233
Rnd7
Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick244
Rnd7
Randon Fontenette
Randon Fontenette at No. 244 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick252
Rnd7
Jeremiah Cobb
Somehow Jeremiah Cobb was still sitting there in pick No. 252, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick253
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
Steal is underselling it; Ethan O'Connor at Round 7, Pick 37 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
