The Vikings let Dotson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Call it larceny. Mello Dotson sat on the board until the 166th pick, and the Vikings did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Reaching for Conner left real value on the table behind him. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
