Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Vikings checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Nobody else had Miles Frazier anywhere near pick 88. The Vikings did, by 29 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the 37th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Miles Frazier
They reached into another round for Miles Frazier, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Wilson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114 Rnd4 Tai Felton
A slide stopped in pick No. 114, with Tai Felton worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick120 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander slipping to Round 4, Pick 18 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kobe King
A tidy bit of business in No. 139, where Kobe King graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick141 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
They took Malachi Moore at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
A reach for Ajani Cornelius in the 163rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
A conviction pick on Jarquez Hunter at pick No. 178 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick180 Rnd6 Vernon Broughton
They went early on Vernon Broughton in slot 180, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick187 Rnd6 Upton Stout
No drama and no debate, Upton Stout went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 11. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick188 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at No. 188 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
