Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Vikings let Emmanwori fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Emmanwori at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach slot 37 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in Round 3, Pick 10 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick97 Rnd3 Deone Walker
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Deone Walker in the Round 3 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
They took Jared Wilson at par in pick 103, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in pick No. 111 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Brashard Smith
A clean, defensible pick in the 139th pick with a little surplus value in Brashard Smith. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick141 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
They did well to land Hollin Pierce in pick No. 141, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
No drama and no debate, Quincy Riley went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 2. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick187 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at pick 187 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick222 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Jackson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
