Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Hartford: B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

That Hartford pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In No. 1 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
You do not let a linebacker like Anthony Hill Jr. reach pick 33 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick157 Rnd5 Xavier Scott
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Scott. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick173 Rnd5 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in pick No. 173 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick196 Rnd6 Malik Hartford
Taking Malik Hartford in slot 196 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jack Velling
They paid sticker price for Jack Velling in the 208th overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jeremiah Cobb
Jeremiah Cobb in slot 231 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
