Larceny in the 35th overall pick lands the Vikings a A-, Hill Jr. and all. The Vikings ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Holly has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The back end got a real overhaul.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In No. 3 they get a rangy last line of defense. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
They robbed the room for Anthony Hill Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick67
Rnd3
Iapani Laloulu
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Iapani Laloulu at Round 3, Pick 3 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick196
Rnd6
J.Michael Sturdivant
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.Michael Sturdivant. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick231
Rnd7
Trey Holly
Trey Holly in the 231st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
