Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA FutureB+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Vikings and Bernard: B+.

The Vikings spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Germie Bernard, the No. 65 name on the board, in the Round 4 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots went begging. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Every board in the league had Miller lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
Fair-plus on Jermod McCoy, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick64 Rnd2 Daylen Everette
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Daylen Everette in the Round 2 slot leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman is a better player than slot 70 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111 Rnd4 Germie Bernard
You do not let a wide receiver like Germie Bernard reach No. 111 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick118 Rnd4 Blake Miller
Blake Miller in pick 118 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129 Rnd4 Justin Joly
Justin Joly at the 129th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 155 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick171 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson in the 171st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick208 Rnd6 Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick229 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
Nice patience on DeAndre Moore Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 229. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III slipping to pick 240 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick242 Rnd7 Brandon Inniss
No drama and no debate, Brandon Inniss went about where he belonged in the 242nd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick251 Rnd7 J. Michael Sturdivant
They took J. Michael Sturdivant at par in No. 251, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
