Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC
The Vikings lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

The Vikings did not so much draft Jacory Croskey-Merritt as overpay for him, 86 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Nolen makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In No. 24 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Value with a capital V on Walter Nolen in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick51 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at the 51st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Dorian Strong
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dorian Strong this early at pick No. 97. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick108 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at Round 4, Pick 6 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick166 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams at pick 166 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick191 Rnd6 Tyler Cooper
No edge and no loss on Tyler Cooper in pick 191; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jacory Croskey-Merritt
They reached into another round for Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick255 Rnd7 Max Brosmer
Max Brosmer at No. 255 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
