Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The 49ers took Darius Taylor at No. 189, roughly 131 spots before his name belonged.

The Sharpe pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback still on the board. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Trevor Goosby
In the 14th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick32 Rnd1 David Stone
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Emmanuel Oyebadejo
Emmanuel Oyebadejo in the 45th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jamari Sharpe
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback to take Jamari Sharpe, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick76 Rnd3 Reed Harris
This one needs a full-page explanation: Reed Harris in No. 76, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick96 Rnd3 Peter Clarke
Of all the spots to shop, they chose tight end. Peter Clarke in pick 96 leaves quarterback for later.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jackson Bennee
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 134 on Jackson Bennee with quarterback unsolved.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jayden Virgin-Morgan
They went early on Jayden Virgin-Morgan in the 169th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick189 Rnd6 Darius Taylor
Value said wait; Darius Taylor in pick 189 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
