Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Saints: B. The pick that carries the class is Jalon Walker, a linebacker the Saints were happy to stop sliding in the 40th pick. Patience, rewarded. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Brown proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker is a better player than pick 40 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick71
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They let TreVeyon Henderson come to them and pounced at slot 71. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Kyle Kennard
They took Kyle Kennard at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Milroe at the 93rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick112
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
A straight-up fair deal on Denzel Burke at No. 112, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They liked Logan Brown enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
They paid a round early for Tyler Cooper in the 184th overall pick, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford in No. 248 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick254
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
Nothing to complain about; LaJohntay Wester went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
