FutureB
The Saints drew a line under the quarterback search with Dart: B+. Start where it matters. The Saints took Jaxson Dart to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Dart has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get their guy under center for the next decade, a steep price for the projection.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at the 40th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick71
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
They paid sticker price for Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 71, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at the 76th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick80
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at pick 80 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick93
Rnd3
David Walker
A reach on David Walker in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
A tidy bit of business in slot 112, where Lathan Ransom graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick131
Rnd4
Pat Bryant
A reach for Pat Bryant in No. 131; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149
Rnd5
LeQuint Allen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, LeQuint Allen at pick No. 149. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick151
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
They talked themselves into Kyle Williams at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick184
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
A conviction pick on Tyler Cooper at No. 184 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick248
Rnd7
Shemar James
Shemar James at the 248th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick254
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
Good price on Zeek Biggers in slot 254, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
