Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

FutureB-
Williams should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Saints were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
A tidy bit of business in No. 40, where Jalon Walker graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick45
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in slot 45 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick71
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Nothing to complain about; Quinshon Judkins went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
No drama and no debate, Quinn Ewers went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 29. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at the 112th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in the 131st pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick184
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dont'e Thornton Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick248
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
No edge and no loss on Teddye Buchanan in the 248th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick254
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
They did well to land LaJohntay Wester in pick 254, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
